Logs and statistics
On the site page you find two tabs: Statistics, with the visits and the traffic computed from the web server logs (like AWStats in cPanel), and Logs, with the raw logs to read and download.
Statistics
Choose the period (7, 30, 90 or 365 days) and see:
- Visitors: the different people who opened the site, counted day by day (the same person on two days counts twice);
- Page views: the pages opened, without images, styles, scripts, errors and robots;
- Traffic: the data sent by the server, that is the bandwidth used by the site, with the total number of requests;
- Robot requests (search engines, monitoring tools) and the 4xx and 5xx errors;
- visitors per day, most viewed pages, where they come from (the other sites that bring visits, search engines included), browsers and systems, pages not found (useful to find broken links to fix with a redirect), robots and visits by hour of the day.
The statistics update by themselves every hour and when you open the tab (right away with Refresh). The first ones appear within an hour of the first visits.
Privacy
The panel computes the statistics from the web server logs: no scripts in the pages, no cookies, no external service. IP addresses aren't kept: they're only used while the visitors of a day are counted, then only the number stays. The totals of each day are kept for 13 months, even after the logs are deleted.
Good to know
- If the site is behind a CDN or a proxy, the requests served by the CDN don't reach the server and aren't counted.
- The numbers may differ from those of Google Analytics or similar tools: they count in a different way (for example people who block scripts).
Logs
- Web server logs: the last 200 lines of the error log (pages that don't work, PHP errors) or of the access log, with a text search (for example
Fatal,404or an IP address). With Apache/.htaccess compatibility there are also the Apache logs. - Most active addresses: who asked the most pages in the last 15 minutes, the last hour or the last 24 hours, with the requests stopped by the limit of requests (error 429) and the declared browser. Block puts the address in the site's IP blocker, with a note.
- Log files: the raw logs to download, including those of the previous days (compressed
.gz). The server keeps about two weeks of them; download them if you need them longer.
The PHP error log of the site (logs/php-error.log in the site folder) stays in the file manager.
The logs contain the IP addresses of the visitors: treat them as personal data.
