Server resources

The Server › Resources page shows the server's plan at the provider (CPU, memory, disk, monthly cost) and lets you move to a bigger plan when the sites need it. It works with Vultr and Hetzner Cloud servers; it is for administrators only.

Seeing the plans

Pick the provider and enter its API key (Vultr: Account › API; Hetzner: project › Security › API tokens). If you already saved the key for the mail reverse DNS, that one is used. The panel finds this server in the account (from its IP address) and shows:

• the current plan;
• the bigger plans available in the same region, with the monthly price and the difference from today.

Plans with a smaller disk are never offered: the disk never shrinks.

Changing plan (Vultr)

Pick the plan and read the summary: the server will be restarted by the provider (sites and mail do not answer for a few minutes), the new cost will be billed to your account. To confirm you have to type the new monthly cost: a safeguard against careless clicks. The panel refuses the change while operations are running.

After the restart the panel checks that the new plan is active and, if the disk grew, grows the root file system by itself (growpart and resize2fs or xfs_growfs). The outcome is shown at the top of the page.

Changing plan (Hetzner Cloud)

Hetzner changes the server type only while the server is off, and the panel cannot turn off the server it runs on: the page shows the plans and prices and guides you through the Cloud Console steps (power off, Rescale, pick the type, power on). After the restart the panel notices the bigger disk and grows the file system by itself.

Going back

Moving to a smaller plan is not possible from here. With a grown disk it often is not possible at the provider either: choose calmly.
