Privacy and error reports
If something breaks, the panel can tell Koapanel by itself, without you opening a support request. The choice is in Privacy (administrators only) and is on until you turn it off.
What is reported
- an unexpected crash of the panel (also one that caused a restart: it is sent when the panel starts again);
- an operation that failed because of the panel: backup, restore, migration, WordPress install or update, SSL certificate, mail setup, antimalware scan… Errors caused by what people typed, canceled operations, wrong SSH passwords, domains not pointing to the server and the customers' cron commands are not reported;
- a panel update that failed or was rolled back;
- an interface error (the "Something went wrong" screen);
- a system service (nginx, PHP-FPM, MariaDB, Postfix, Dovecot, PowerDNS) that systemd can no longer restart. The panel does not restart it itself: it reports it.
What it contains
Technical data only: error type, code location, kind of operation, panel version, operating system and how many times it happened. Before sending, the panel removes web addresses, domains, emails, IP addresses, file paths (except the panel's system folders), long numbers, codes and quoted text. Site content, user data and visitor data are never sent.
The What is sent section shows the reports waiting to be sent and the last ones sent, exactly as they leave the panel. Identical errors are grouped and sent together at most every 15 minutes; if the console does not answer the panel tries again later.
Koapanel's answer
Next to the error the panel shows what we know about the problem:
- "Report recorded: it will be sent to Koapanel."
- "We already received this report and are working on it."
- "Fixed in version X: update the panel.", with a link to Updates.
Turning the reports off
Untick Send automatic error reports to Koapanel: from then on the panel records and sends nothing, and the reports waiting to be sent are deleted. It applies to the whole server, resellers' customers included.
